Prep

Eligible students can still enrol in our 2018 Prep classes.

Please be aware that our school enrolments are now guided by an Enrolment Management Plan, which geographically defines a catchment area for all future enrolments at our school. Space permitting, students from outside our defined area may be placed on a waiting list for enrolment.

Preparatory year in Queensland is now compulsory prior to commencing Year 1, as it operates as an integral part of the State School system, and is an important part of the total educational package offered by Pomona State School.

Parents still have some flexibility as to when they enrol their children in Prep, but all children must have turned 5 before June 30 in their Prep year. To be eligible to enrol in Prep in 2018, your child's birthdate must be earlier than 30 June 2013.

In 2018 we have two groups of active learners - PBB with Mrs Bernadette Blackmore, and PJM with Ms Jesse MacDonald. We aim for a play-based curriculum with an emphasis on developing early knowledge and skills in literacy and numeracy.

The two Prep rooms and Prep grounds are bright and spacious. Both Prep classrooms are staffed with highly experienced teachers and teacher aides.

At Pomona State School, our Prep students wear the same navy and gold school uniform as the rest of the student body, with a navy sun safe hat.

Our Prep hours are the same as for all other classes - from 8:45am to 2:50pm, Monday to Friday.

For information about your child's Prep enrolment, or any other queries, please contact the school office on (07) 5480 8222.
