Health and Physical Education - HPE

In terms 1 and 4 Physical Education is all about swimming here at Pomona State School - and thank goodness, with the warm weather we have already experienced this year.

We are lucky to have our very own 25 metre, heated pool, which is used extensively throughout the swimming season by our own classes and other local schools.

Please remember that all students must bring their own:

swimming cap

swim suit

sun-safe swim shirt or rashie

towel

All items should be named and carried in a suitable carry bag. Goggles and ear plugs are optional. Sunscreen is best applied by parents at home, though we do provide bottles of lotion for children to apply here at school.

Parents and students are reminded that swimming is part of the HPE curriculum and assessed for report card purposes. Students are expected to participate in all school swimming lessons unless parents contact the school to request an exemption for medical reasons.

During terms 2 and 3 our students participate in a varied outdoor programme, which incorporates fitness, athletics, training, and skills required for specific team sports.

Again parents and students are reminded that hats are required for all outdoor activities at school, including PE lessons, which usually take place on one of our school ovals or multipurpose courts.
